AR Display Prospect

As the go-to display tech for the next generation, AR display seamlesly blends virtualreaity into the real word, promising widespread applications in industries like medicine, communication, sports, and everyday information display, especialy the AR goggles, which have become a new target in the capital market with advanced display products worth of trillions

AR display is considered one of the goals of Appotronics in the
future development

After listing on the Science and Technology Innovation Board in 2019, Appotronics has considered AR display as an important development goal by outlining the development strategy and technological innovation proposal with an estimation of the technical difficulties. In the prospectus of Appotronics, it says, “AR display is one of the goals of Appotronics in the future development. We will spare no efforts to explore the cutting-edge technology and compete with others in international markets, thereby making contribution to the innovation-driven development strategy of the State.”

AR optical module independently developed

by Appotronics has achieved 10000 PPI

In May 2022, Appotronics released a self-developed AR optical module, which is the first AR optical module with 10000 PPI worldwide. It represents the significant breakthrough of Appotronics in AR technological research and development. With the innovation in multiple technological fields including optics, structure and algorithm, Appotronics’s AR team successfully developed SPD (super pixel density) technology, realizing 10000 PPI, 720p resolution, 40°FOV and power consumption less than 200mW within a volume of 0.5 cubic centimeter. With the same volume, the picture definition is twice of the average level in this industry.

Application Prospect

The full view AR optical module released by Appotronics is not only lightweight and head-mounted, but also satisfies the requirement for brightness when applying to various scenes indoor and outdoor. The R&D team uses diffracted waves as optical combiner to realize the transmittance of more than 85%, making the lens light and thin enough and thus getting the module lightweight; meanwhile, it improves the display brightness of the module significantly and makes the full view AR display applicable to the outdoor scenes with high brightness.

Appotronics Launches First Consumer-Grade Underwater Blue Laser Radar,  Ushering in the 10-Meter Underwater Ranging Era

On 10th September, Appotronics Corporation Limited, one of the first listed companies on the Science and Technology Innovation Board (STAR Market), was pleased to unveil two underwater laser radar products — Yuanmou D10 and Yuanmou T1 at the 26th China International Optoelectronic Expo (CIOE), which covering the consumer-grade and professional-grade underwater robot markets. Among them, the Yuanmou D10, as the industry’s first consumer-grade underwater blue laser radar, has upgraded the effective ranging capability to 10 meters, marking the industry’s official entry into the "10-meter underwater ranging era."

At the event, Appotronics and CAMSENSE - a global leader in intelligent robot spatial perception solutions, reached intentional cooperation and completed the signing; Both parties will work together to promote the intelligent upgrading of the pool robot industry and accelerate the commercialization of innovative technologies.

Unlocking the 10-Meter Underwater Ranging Era for Consumers

As introduced, Appotronics' underwater laser radar adopts a high-power blue laser solution. In underwater environments, compared with 905nm and 1550nm wavelength infrared lasers, blue laser’s water absorption rate is reduced by nearly 100 times — significantly enhancing the penetration and anti-interference ability of laser signals in water, and effectively overcoming the technical bottlenecks of traditional infrared lasers such as easy attenuation and high susceptibility to ambient light interference.

The Yuanmou D10, the flagship consumer-grade product, is only the size of a business card case, enabling flexible integration into the structural design of various underwater robots. It complies with Class 1 laser safety standards, ensuring no harm to the human body. Most notably, its 10-meter long-distance ranging capability allows pool cleaning robots to achieve fast mapping and precise navigation, significantly improving cleaning efficiency and intelligence.

Yuanmou T1 targets the professional market, adopting trigonometric distance measurement with precision line-scan measurement. It is expected to be widely applied in high-value scenarios such as marine cadastral surveying and mapping, underwater archaeology, structural inspection, and seabed resource exploration — bringing new technological breakthroughs and solutions to professional fields. Beyond hardware innovation, Appotronics has independently developed ambient light filtering technology and pulsed laser algorithms. The former effectively suppresses ambient light interference by optimizing laser wavelengths, while the latter maintains stable ranging performance even in highly turbid water. Compared with traditional camera-based solutions, Appotronics’ technology achieves longer detection distances and adapts to more complex water quality conditions.

Addressing Industry Pain Points

Currently, the mainstream consumer market for underwater robots lies in pool cleaning robots. According to data from Jiacheng Capital, the global number of swimming pools reached 288.8 million in 2021 and is projected to grow to 369.2 million by 2026, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 5%. However, most pool cleaning still relies on  manual labor, with a single cleaning cost often exceeding $100. The penetration rate of pool cleaning robots is rising rapidly, and global demand is expected to exceed 10 million units by 2026. Similar to household floor-cleaning robots, pool cleaning robots require laser radar for precise navigation, intelligent obstacle avoidance, and environmental perception. However, unlike ground environments, underwater conditions pose immense challenges to laser radar operation - including insufficient laser power, weak reflected signals, sunlight interference with sensor chips, and laser signal disruption caused by water reflection.

As a result, pool cleaning robots are still in the early market stage, characterized by low sensor adoption rates, limited intelligence, and high product homogeneity - presenting substantial market opportunities. The Yuanmou D10 addresses four core industry pain points: infrared laser attenuation, limited ranging distance, ambient light interference, and turbidity interference. It achieves comprehensive breakthroughs in optical design, algorithm processing, and structural anti-interference, providing the market with a truly commercialized, high-performance underwater perception solution.

Leveraging its profound technical accumulation in blue laser technology, Appotronics has successfully extended its core technologies to underwater sensing scenarios, demonstrating strong innovative expansion capabilities. The company stated that the Yuanmou series underwater laser radar is currently in active discussions with multiple industry clients. In the future, it will not only be used in pool cleaning robots but also expand to more consumer and professional scenarios such as underwater security, ecological monitoring, and leisure entertainment - driving the entire underwater intelligent equipment industry toward higher performance and lower costs.
